Significance of Childhood Education

Asalamu 'Alaikum Warahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Sheikh SajidAllah says: "Are those who know equal to those who know not?" (39:9).

The significance of childhood education cannot be undermined; the formative years, are the most significant years in child-development. What a child learns at this stage can greatly enhance the direction of their overall development and it also plays a vital role in the successful progression of all their future endeavors. The lessons learned and the habits formed at this receptive stage of childhood, have more to do with the formation of character and direction of life than all the educational training of after years. As such, I passionately believe that it is our duty and responsibility to ensure that every Muslim child is granted this opportunity to learn about their religious obligations to develop the principles of Islam within them.

With the grace of Allah Almighty, I have been bestowed with the opportunity to engage in the development of Islamic learning by granting me the role of Chief Islamic Editor at Little Explorers Magazine. This allows me to ensure that everything we present in the Magazine is in accordance to the teachings of the Qur'aan and the Sunnah. I take this role as a valuable and important task as it entails conveying the proper teachings to children all over the world. During this period a child's mind is extremely absorbent, hence it is imperative that everything they learn is authentic and reliable. They will build on the knowledge learnt at this juncture and will retain it for life.

I am grateful to Allah Almighty for making me a part of the Little Explorers team. It is a project that is close to my heart and I earnestly believe that Allah will decree for us progress and commitment in educating Little Muslims all over the Globe.
